During our short summer break from homeschooling my 7 year old boy wakes up asking for the iPad, Xbox , or T.V right off the bat. “Later” is never a satisfactory answer for him and inevitably leads to constant ( like, literally every 15 or 20 minutes) requests to play. My son will do anything to get his hands on Minecraft or LEGO games so in order to stop the questions of “WHEN CAN I PLAY???” Inspired by tickets earned for technology and other lists I have seen I threw together this checklist for him to complete prior to turning on any technology. This helps my new reader know what is expected of him daily and takes some pressure off me with very little resistance. Quite honestly, some days when he gets to doing things like 30 minutes of something creative -art, legos, play dough, etc… it can turn into 1 1/2 or two hours before he even realizes it. By the time he has eaten meals and done everything on his checklist half the day has passed, his allotted time feels more like a treat than something that he is owed.

Just click on the image below to print your own 8×10 checklist.
I printed mine off and laminated it so it can be used daily with a dry erase marker for everyday use.
Give it a try and see if this doesn’t make life just a little bit easier with your techno-cutie!
