My “poor kids”, while I buy Christmas presents just for fun and enjoyment I am always trying to find an angle to turn it into an educational experience. I LOVE doing stockings, it is probably my favorite part of Christmas shopping- looking for unique odds and ends, special candies, etc. to fill them up with is just a thrill. Since we are homeschooling it only seemed right to include at least a couple learning toys in each one. Here are 10 I found that I think are fun and educational!
Math Dice Jr– These can be used in many ways, building math skills in a fun way.
Hexbug Nano– We grabbed a couple of these for fun and they have turned into all kinds of science, art, etc…
Uno– A family classic, even preschoolers can enjoy learning colors and numbers by playing this one.
Appletters– A more enjoyable way to practice letter and word recognition.
Rory’s Story Cubes– Build imagination, literacy skills, and much more.
Mad Libs– This is how I “trick” my son into learning parts of speech.
Toobs– These are just a favorite in our house, we use them for manipulatives, in sensory bins, and dramatic small world play.
Counting Bears– My preschooler and 2nd grader still play with these manipulatives.
Counting Bear Pattern– These go perfectly with counting bears to give your child another way to use and learn with them.
Magnetic Letters– We use ours on the refrigerator, white board and also on Dollar Tree cookie sheets for letter recognition and spelling for my older child.
