One of our favorite things to do in our homeschool is Storytelling with our favorite books. Little Ms. Sassy has just begun “formal” schooling with our Mother Goose Time– if your missed my initial post on it you can read it HERE, to get an idea what it’s all about. This month’s theme is Alphabet House and we have enjoyed all kinds of out of the box ready to go activities so far but the one we have enjoyed the most is Story Telling with Goldilocks- every month Mother Goose Time provides you with a beautiful, soft cover book to add to your child’s library that goes along with the current theme.
All I had to do is provide her with the book, her wooden dollhouse and some dolls ( we have no small bears so our version was more-Goldilocks, two cats, and a little pony). Ms. Sassy took off with it and flipped through the book, setting up and acting out each scene as she came to it. I loved hearing her little voice tell the story in her own words.
In her mind she is just playing but I know through the activities in our monthly Mother Goose Time she is learning at an incredible rate. Story telling with her dolls is building fine motor skills, strengthening language skills, encouraging dramatic play and imagination, teaching her to tell the story chronologically, and so much more. First we read it together and then she likes to act out the story.
She cannot wait each day to see what that day has in store for her very own school. Every single box is filled with amazingly planned lessons, manipulatives, games, craft projects, themed music, and of course the book. I mean look how beautiful this books is?
If you are searching for a ready to use, beautifully put together toddler to preschool age curriculum I strongly urge you to check out Mother Goose Time and give it a try!
